According to the statistics from Statistical Office of the European Union, Italy’s volume of goods trade was USD359.01 billion from January to May in 2016, down 0.8% year-on-year (the same below). Exports grew by 0.3% to USD189.98 billion, and imports fell by 2.1% to USD169.03 billion. The trade surplus grew by 25.9% to USD20.96 billion.

In May, Italy’s volume of goods trade grew by 2.5% to USD76.11 billion. Exports grew by 3.7% to USD40.90 billion and imports grew by 1.1% to USD35.21 billion. And the trade surplus grew by 23.9% to USD5.69 billion.

Since January to May, bilateral trade volume between Italy and China fell by 0.8% to USD17.44 billion. Italy’s exports to China fell by 2.4% to USD4.63 billion. It accounted for 2.4% of Italy’s overall export, down 0.1%. And Italy’s imports from China fell by 0.2% to USD12.81 billion. It accounted for 7.6% of Italy’s overall imports, up 0.2% over the previous year. Italy’s trade deficit with China was USD8.17 billion, up 1.2%.

China was the ninth export market of Italy and its third largest source of imports up to May in 2016.
